she was standing there

She Was Standing There

She was standing there,

Her eyes glistening like the sun reflecting off a mountain lake.

She had hair as dark as the night.

Her lips were a deep crimson hue,

So magnificently beautiful like a rainbow across the sky.

But alas, it was only a dream

That someday might come true.

By Kory Hoopes, 3rd grade Hmm, do you think that dream came true?

That kid had quite the mind to come up with stuff like that in 3rd grade!

That's awesome. I feel bad his dream didn't come true though.

I'm seriously amazed he could write something like this in 3rd grade. I think my best 3rd grade poem was about getting a tummy ache or something like that.

Who uses words like that at such a young age? Even grown-ups now hardly use the words "alas" and "hue." Kudos to Kory actually using that last word correctly though...
